Since September 2017, the Cologne photographer and blogger Ben Hammer has been hosting his laid-back art evening for a good cause at the Veedel Club. On every third Wednesday of the month, various artists present their work to around 200 regular guests.
From photographers, illustrators and videographers to a live band, DJ and a changing special act – the event offers something for every taste. The stage programme includes short interviews with the various artists so guests have the opportunity to find out more about them and their work. They can even buy artwork right there if they like. This is made possible by a huge flea market filled with donations in kind from creative people and the two printed exhibitions by the photographers and designers. Thanks to the cooperation with Canon Germany, the prints can be purchased for a fair price at the event. The proceeds from the art sales are donated to a good cause in Cologne.
The project will be celebrating its one year anniversary at photokina in September. Ben Hammer's team has rented the pop-up store GREATLIVE in Cologne for the occasion. The celebration will take place on 26 and 27 September and feature a large exhibition, two evening programmes and aftershow parties. photokina visitors and art lovers are invited to stop by and enjoy photography, videography, design, music and other forms of art in a laid-back atmosphere.
