10 years of the >Canon Profifoto Förderpreis<

100 CPFP winning images at photokina 2016

The internationally renowned Canon Profifoto Förderpreis (CPFP), which was brought to life at the Weltmesse des Bildes 2006, is this year celebrating its tenth anniversary. On this occasion, photokina is presenting all 100 photo projects since the honoured new photo projects in an exhibition.

For ten years now, the CPFP, as a photo competition for young talent, for which Canon and the magazine ProfiFoto issue calls for submissions twice annually in cooperation with the image agency Laif und Whitewall, has been offering young photographers the chance to find support with the realisation of the "pictures in their heads".

The prize is awarded every six months by a renowned jury to five applicants whose photographic signatures are convincing and who arouse curiosity for more with their concepts.
The 100 winning projects of all competition tenders since 2006 will be shown in Cologne. A total of several thousand participants have applied for the Canon Profifoto Förderpreis during this time. The increasing internationality of the competition is demonstrated by submissions from, among other places, Mongolia, Australia, Ukraine, Finland and Peru. The average age of applicants is 27; around 60 percent are students.

The bandwidth of honoured projects extends from hard reportages through subjects constructed on a computer and complex stagings to very personal insights into the lives and thoughts of young photo pros. What they all have in common is the distinctive pictorial language of each participant, who in every case justify the trust placed in them.
